UM Health-Sparrow’s Job Shadowing program is open to students (age 16 or older) and adults who are interested in exploring health care careers.

What is it?

This is a two to four hour experience where you will learn about UM Health-Sparrow and see, firsthand, just what type of career interests you. You will follow along with UM Health-Sparrow Team Members who will answer your questions and help you decide if this is the right career for you. This is also an excellent opportunity to network with people within the profession you are interested in.
A sense of mutual respect and mindfulness permeates our culture-in fact, it’s the key to our success.
Where can I shadow?

University of Michigan Health-Sparrow offers job shadow opportunities at all locations including UM Health-Sparrow, UM Health-Sparrow Clinton, UM Health-Sparrow Ionia, UM Health-Sparrow Carson, UM Health-Sparrow Eaton and many UM Health-Sparrow Medical Group Facilities.

How do I sign up?

First, you will need to complete and submit an online application located at the bottom of this page. If you are under 18, you will need your parent or guardian to complete the consent form located with the application links below.

When we receive your application, a notification will be sent to your email address along with further details on next steps. 

Following the documentation completion the department you wish to shadow will be notified, and they will reach out to schedule your experience. This process can take 2-6 weeks depending on the number of applicants and the availability of the department. Please plan accordingly if you need to meet a deadline such as a school requirement.
