Our nurses

More than one–quarter of UM Health-Sparrow’s 8,400 team members are nurses. They are the heart and soul of UM Health-Sparrow’s commitment to quality, compassionate care.

While every single team member drives our mission of improving the health of the people in the Mid-Michigan region, nurses are the most visible example of our dedication to delivering the very best experience to everyone we serve, every time.

A satisfying nursing career is one where your uniqueness and contributions are encouraged.

At UM Health-Sparrow, we appreciate nurses as individuals and their contributions to our mission and vision.

We’re a teaching hospital and the regional referral center for cancer, trauma, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiovascular, neonatal intensive care, and neurological care, which gives you options you won’t find in smaller facilities. Our Emergency Department is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Mid-Michigan. A separate pediatric ED is specifically designed for patients under 19.

Whether you choose to specialize in a narrow niche or experience the range of roles available, we’ll help you find the position that fulfills you.

Under UM Health-Sparrow's umbrella, you’re not limited to a position. UM Health-Sparrow nurses also provide dialysis, behavioral health, residential hospice, and long-term acute care, in addition to making thousands of home health visits each year.

Whether you are a new graduate or an experienced clinician, UM Health-Sparrow can help you fulfill your professional goals. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses

Everyday, our nurses go above and beyond for our patients, and we are proud to recognize them for their efforts.

The DAISY Award® was established by The DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, and created this international award to say thank you to Nurses everywhere.

A UM Health-Sparrow nurse will be chosen every month to receive The DAISY Award. You can nominate nurses throughout the year. Have you received exceptional care from a UM Health-Sparrow nurse? Nominating a nurse takes only a few minutes.

Honor their compassion and care by filling out this online form.
